Nope.


It's a Canadian game.Is it true that ice hockey was based on the irish sport of hurling?

It would figure them hot headed irishmen would find a way to start a fight with a puck and some sticks...





But, aint it nice that they werent the ones to blame for it ...this time :)

NO, but that's an interesting theory.
Noooo!!! It probably was originally an attempt to play English Field hockey on a frozen lake in Canada in winter. That is why the body contact, have you ever tried to stop suddenly on ice??
