Although Hockey is not huge, it's still MUCH bigger than soccer. I've never seen anyone in the states walking around in a soccer jersey.Is it true that soccor is a bigger sport in North America than Hockey? And do you think it will catch on here
No way, soccer cannot overcome hockey here, because with the international championship titles being won by Team Canada in hockey on almost an consistent basis. If you also consider the nationalist reasons of this country and try to compare it to say...England (they invented soccer), we invented hockey, plus also compare the success that our soccer national team had to theirs... will right way turn most people off in this country because national success breeds national pride. If soccer were to catch on here, it would probably be in my guess after 20 years if Team Canada Hockey is no longer successful when that time arrives.


Fifa knows this as will as the hockey governing body, IIHF.





Anyway, you decide which one has the best answer...lol!

Depends where 'here' is. It also depends if you mean bigger in the sense of a social and business phenomenon or if you mean bigger in the sense of participation?





It makes a big difference. Actually here in Vancouver Canada, more people play soccer than play hockey and I'm pretty sure that that is also true for all of North America (even if you don't include Mexico) but Soccer doesn't even come close to Hockey when it comes to fan support or money spent and earned.
soccer is nowhere near hockey in canada and i dont think it ever will be in the usa hockey isnt nearly as popular as in canada but i do believe it to be bigger than soccer.
In canada hockey is supreme. but it doesn't meanwe don't like soccer either.
Eventually it will catch on in north America.





But you have to think about the other states, like Minnesota, Michigan, New York. States like that. Hockey is big in those states.
no i don't! it's bigger in europe (oh the shame of it!!!) but i don't think it will ever be bigger in north america!
