Is it true that refillable sports bottles are unsafe to drink out of?

What can be used instead? I don't like metal its heavy, clunky feeling, and dents easy and I don't like glass its unsafe if it drops and shatters. Is it true that refillable sports bottles are unsafe to drink out of?
Refillable sports bottles should be okay if you wash them after each use.Is it true that refillable sports bottles are unsafe to drink out of?
well, its not unsafe to use. Its unsafe if you don't wash it out properly after every use. (if your that worried, just sterilize your bottle with boiling water and soap, then wash it with soap again)
They are not unsafe if totally washed properly EVERY TIME after use. You would be amazed at the bacteria which can collect! The bottle needs to be washed in very hot, soapy water, then rinsed well. Use a brush to get into the crevices, and the little cap and cover.

What really should NEVER be refilled are one-use bottles such as for bottled water or sports drinks. The material from them leaches out into the refilled liquid; they are made for one-use only.
What you are looking for in a refillable bottle is one the will not leach the plastic taste. It should be made of polycarbonate. Most health food stores carry many colors and varieties. Check out http://www.enviroproductsinc.com/index.h鈥?/a> for more info. Lots of info there!
im a fan of nalgene bottles...they dont break and u dont get a plastic taste when they are filled for several hours like you do sometimes...id recommend them...they're also dishwasher safe which makes life a lot easier...because it's completely safe to refill them then
well it'll be unsafe once you refill it toomany times
