Is auto racing a true sport or a death wish? Who is the best driver on the circuit?

Robert Kubica's 175 mph crash is a testament to the safety regulations of Formula 1. i would say that Alonso, Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen are the best drivers on the circuit as they are the leaders but have the best machinery. Kubica and Heidfeld are the ones to watch in the futureIs auto racing a true sport or a death wish? Who is the best driver on the circuit?
It has never been a death wish, but certainly in the past death while driving was much more common for race pilots than it is in the last ten years or so. Now, death is a shock and a surprise; in the 80s and before, it was no big shock, it was something that could happen.

Some forms of it are a sport. Others are just a glorified speed demonstration. I won't comment on which is which, but F1 could reasonably be in the second category in the last 10 years.
It's an adreanalin rush. Each year teams pour a lot of money into making their cars faster and safer. I don't think anyone has died in formula 1 in the past 10 years. I can think of a dozen different sports which are more dangerous to it's competitors than f1...
YOURE FATHERS 3rd BROTHER.
A true sport, but it can get really dangerous at times. Currently, the best driver on the circuit is probably Lewis Hamilton. He has been consistently putting up strong and solid performances.
yeah anyone who's autoraced probably thinks of it as a sport. In some ways its not since the playing field isnt very level in some forms of motorsport. There is some athletic ability required in higher levels of autoracing, but the best driver doesn't always win... the talent of the team as a whole as well as the size of their bank account determines who is the 1st to pass the checkered flag. This is the same in other sports such as boxing and football etc... you need to have skilled coaches/trainers to make it to the top. Money seems to be more of an issue in Autosport than other sports.
